Regular Season Round 9: UMKS Kielce - Ksiezak Lowicz 80-66

The game between Top Four teams took place in Kielce. Third ranked host UMKS Kielce (7-2) defeated second-best Ksiezak Lowicz (6-3) 80-66. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ksiezak Lowicz. It was a key game for the second position in Group C. It looked good early as Ksiezak Lowicz took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then UMKS Kielce had a 18-7 second period charge getting the lead and Ksiezak Lowicz was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 66-80. UMKS Kielce dominated on the defensive end, holding Ksiezak Lowicz to just 7 points in second quarter. UMKS Kielce forced 20 Ksiezak Lowicz turnovers. Strangely Ksiezak Lowicz outrebounded UMKS Kielce 31-16 including 21 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for swingman Lukasz Fafara (193-84) who led his team to a victory with 25 points, 7 assists and 6 steals (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Artur Busz (194-88) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Four UMKS Kielce players scored in double figures. Center Lukasz Bak (210-81, agency: Promotex) answered with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) and point guard Piotr Trepka (182-80) added 8 points in the effort for Ksiezak Lowicz. The victory was the third consecutive win for UMKS Kielce. They moved-up to second place in Group C. Ksiezak Lowicz at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. UMKS Kielce's next round opponent will be league's leader SKK Siedlce on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ksiezak Lowicz will play against Pulaski Warka and hope to win that game.
