Everything went according to plan when second ranked Wakayama T. (13-4) outscored at home 4th ranked Tsukuba R. (5-14) 98-57 on Saturday. Wakayama T. dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Tsukuba R.'s 34. They outrebounded Tsukuba R. 44-33 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Wakayama T. looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 3 passes made by Tsukuba R.'s players. American power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota, agency: SportsTalent) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) chipped in 18 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Four Wakayama T. players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American power forward Lamar Sanders (198-84, college: Lamar) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and forward Takafumi Asano (192-85) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Wakayama T. have an impressive five-game winning streak. Newly promoted Wakayama T. maintains second position with 13-4 record having six points less than leader Aishin SH. Tsukuba R. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth place with 14 games lost. Wakayama T. will face again Tsukuba R. (#4) at home in the next round.
