There was no surprise in Ciudad Victoria where 13th ranked Correcaminos (3-14) were outplayed by fourth ranked Halcones Rojos (12-5) 82-60 on Saturday. The game without a history. Halcones Rojos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Correcaminos' 26. They outrebounded Correcaminos 42-24 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and the former international forward Jesus Gonzalez (195-86) who added 13 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Halcones Rojos players scored in double figures. Naturalized American point guard Andrew Gomez (177-85, college: E.Los Angeles JC) responded with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Calvin Williams (206-87, college: SE Missouri St.) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Halcones Rojos maintains fourth position with 12-5 record. Loser Correcaminos keep the thirteenth place with 14 games lost. Halcones Rojos are looking forward to face Gigantes (#12) in Toluca in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Correcaminos will play on the road against Gansos in Ciudad de Mexico and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
