Regular Season Round 17: Niigata Albirex - Tokyo Cinq R. 78-64

Very expected game when 9th ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (5-10) lost on the road to third ranked Niigata Albirex (12-5) 78-64 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Niigata Albirex's pressure prevailed and they won that period 25-18 extending their advantage to 14 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Cinq R.'s 36. American players dominated also this game. Center Patrick Sullivan (206-88, college: SE Louisiana) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) contributed with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Swingman Ricky Woods (194-84, college: SE Louisiana) answered with 16 points and 9 rebounds and center Anthony Stover (208-90, college: UCLA) added 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks in the effort for Tokyo Cinq R.Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Niigata Albirex maintains third place with 12-5 record having just -3 point less than leader Akita NH. Loser Tokyo Cinq R. keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Niigata Albirex will face again Tokyo Cinq R. (#9) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
