Regular Season Round 20: Abejas - Gigantes 101-80

Not a big story in a game in Guanajuato where 12th ranked Gigantes (4-12) were rolled over by third ranked Abejas (13-5) 101-80 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Abejas. Gigantes managed to win third quarter 27-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Roman Andrade (188, college: N.Mexico Highlands) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and Venezuelan Nestor Colmenares (203-87, college: Campbellsville) who added 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Phillip Bernard responded with 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and American forward Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Abejas and four Gigantes players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Abejas have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Pioneros. Gigantes at the other side keep the twelfth position with 12 games lost. Abejas is looking forward to face Halcones UV Xalapa (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Gigantes will play against Halcones Rojos (#4) in Veracruz and are hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
