There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Mondeville (3-7) defeated at home higher ranked Lyon (7-3) 70-58 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 19-4 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Mondeville dominated on the defensive end, holding Lyon to just 4 points in fourth quarter. Lyon was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American forward Courtney Hurt (185-90, college: VCU) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 8 rebounds. Hhadydia Minte (186-91) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Croatian center Emilija Podrug (190-79) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Bintou Dieme (164-84) added 7 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Lyon. Mondeville moved-up to tenth place. Lyon at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Mondeville will face Tarbes (#13) on the road in the next round. Lyon will play against Nantes Reze (#8) and hope to win that game.
