Regular Season Round 7: UL Huskies - WIT Wildcats 84-65

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Limerick. Leader UL Huskies faced their biggest opponent WIT Wildcats. Host UL Huskies (6-0) smashed guests from Waterford (5-2) 84-65. UL Huskies dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to WIT Wildcats' 44. They outrebounded WIT Wildcats 39-24 including a 32-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian-British guard Rachel Vanderwal (176-83, college: Boston U., agency: Bluestar Sports Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. International center Aoife McDermott (185-91) contributed with 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four UL Huskies players scored in double figures. The former international center Niamh Mullally (180-84) answered with 20 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Rachel Roberts (175-91, college: Villanova) added 17 points and 5 assists in the effort for WIT Wildcats. WIT Wildcats' coach rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. UL Huskies have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 6-0 record. WIT Wildcats at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Brunell. UL Huskies will play against bottom-ranked Liffey Celtics (#9) in Kildare in the next round and are hoping to win another game. WIT Wildcats will play at home against the league's second-placed DCU Mercy (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
