Rather predictable result when third ranked Universitario de Ferrol (5-1) won against 6th ranked Cafe Barco (3-3) in Badajoz 70-58 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Universitario de Ferrol. Cafe Barco was better in fourth quarter 18-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American forward Ashley Arlen (187-90, college: Wayne St., NE, agency: Gamble Sports Management) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 19 rebounds. point guard Cristina Pedrals (171-91) contributed with 25 points for the winners. Guard Regina Gomez (173-82) replied with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and swingman Maria Bolonio (180-85) added 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Cafe Barco. Universitario de Ferrol keeps a position of Group A leader, which they share with Al-Qazeres and Ensino. Newly promoted Cafe Barco keeps the sixth place with three games lost. Universitario de Ferrol will face Pabellon Ourense (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cafe Barco will play against the league's second-placed Maquinaria Ensino (#2) in Lugo and hope to win that game.
