Regular Season Round 7: Niigata - Denso Iris 55-67

Very expected game in Tokyo where 8th ranked Niigata (2-5) was defeated by third ranked Denso Iris (6-1) 67-55 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 67-55. It was a great evening for international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Yuri Ushida (181-89) helped adding 13 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side the former international guard Hiromi Iwamura (168-81) responded with 14 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Sangi Kanade (169-86) scored 15 points. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Denso Iris. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Chanson V-M and Toyota A. Niigata lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Denso Iris will have a break next round. Niigata will play again at home against the league's second-placed Denso Iris (#2) and hope to win that game.
