Regular Season Round 7: Fujitsu RW - Chanson V-M 63-56 OT

There was a change at the WJBL leadership position after last games. Round 7 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Chanson V-M (6-1). They were defeated by sixth ranked Fujitsu RW (5-2) 63-56 in overtime on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Chanson V-M. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-15. But Chanson V-M won second period 11-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Chanson V-M used huge pressure winning it 15-14 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 2-9. Fujitsu RW made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Chanson V-M turnovers. It was a great evening for the former international swingman Eri Nakahata (165-88) who led her team to a victory scoring 17 points and 7 rebounds. International forward Moeko Nagaoka (180-93) helped adding 20 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side the former international swingman Saori Fujiyoshi (178-87) responded with 8 points and 14 rebounds and center Miyuki Kawamura (183-94) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Fujitsu RW have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Mitsubishi K. Chanson V-M at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with Toyota A. and Denso Iris. They were replaced at the leadership position by JX Sunflowers. Chanson V-M will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Fujitsu RW will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Chanson V-M in Shizuoka.
