Regular Season Round 17: Takamatsu FA - Oita H.Devils 65-93

The game in Takamatsu supposed to be also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Oita Heat Devils (9-6) played at the court of 8th ranked Takamatsu FA (5-8). Oita Heat Devils smashed Takamatsu FA 93-65 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Takamatsu FA. The game was mostly controlled by Oita Heat Devils. Takamatsu FA managed to win second period 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Oita Heat Devils dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Takamatsu FA's 26. Oita Heat Devils forced 19 Takamatsu FA turnovers. American guard Verdell Jones III (195-89, college: Indiana) nailed 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import forward Devonne Giles (203-83, college: Texas Tech) accounted for 17 points and 14 rebounds. Five Oita Heat Devils players scored in double figures. American power forward Paul Williams (208-83, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: I.D.S. Law) came up with 8 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Hiroyuki Kikuchi (192-83) added 13 points respectively for Takamatsu FA in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Oita Heat Devils moved-up to second place, which they share with Hamamatsu P. and Kyoto Hannar. Loser Takamatsu FA keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Oita Heat Devils will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Takamatsu FA will play again against Oita Heat Devils (#3) and hope to secure a win.
