Regular Season Round 8: Tigers - Kings 63-67

The game between closely ranked teams ended with one of their biggest challengers Melbourne Tigers' (4-6) home loss to third ranked Kings (5-4) 63-67 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-11. But Melbourne Tigers won second period 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American swingman Sam Young (198-85, college: Pittsburgh) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. The former international center Andrew James Ogilvy (211-88, college: Vanderbilt) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. The former international guard Chris Goulding (192-88) produced 20 points and Canadian center Scott Morrison (213-86, college: Portland St.) added 20 points respectively for the hosts. Kings maintains third position with 5-4 record having seven points less than leader Wildcats. Melbourne Tigers lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with six games lost. Kings will face Wollongong Hawks (#7) in Gwynneville in the next round. Melbourne Tigers will play at home against New Zealand Breakers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
