Regular Season Round 8: Yamanashi QB - Toyota A. 49-67

Bottom-ranked Yamanashi QB (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 67-49 loss to fourth ranked Toyota A. (7-1) in Yamanashi on Sunday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The guests trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 43-19 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Toyota A. dominated on the defensive end, holding Yamanashi QB to just 7 points in third quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Yamanashi QB's players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Mika Kurihara (178-89) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Mami Ikeda (178-81) who added 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Toyota A.'s coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Yumiko Tsuge (170-82) responded with 11 points and 7 rebounds and Hatanaka Miho (177-85) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Toyota A. have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Denso Iris. Newly promoted Yamanashi QB still closes the standings with eight games lost. They share the position with Ebara Vickies. Toyota A. will meet league's leader JX Sunflowers in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Yamanashi QB will play against Hitachi Cougars (#10) in Hitachinaka and hopes to get finally their first victory.
