Regular Season Round 19: Aishin SH - Mitsubishi DD 85-88 OT

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Aishin Sea Horses (19-1) in Kariya on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by third ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (12-8) 88-85. It ended at the same time the 20-game winning streak of Aishin Sea Horses. Mitsubishi Dolphins made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Aishin Sea Horses helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for Bahamas power forward Magnum Rolle (211-86, college: Louisiana Tech) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Alexis Minatoya (191-88) helped adding 16 points (made all of his eleven free throws !!!). Mitsubishi Dolphins' coach Antonio Lang used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side the former international center J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and international guard Makoto Hiejima (190-90) scored 19 points. Five Mitsubishi Dolphins and four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. Mitsubishi Dolphins maintains third place with 12-8 record having six points less than leader Aishin SH. Aishin Sea Horses at the other side still keep top position with one game lost. Mitsubishi Dolphins are looking forward to face Chiba Jets (#5) at home in the next round. Aishin Sea Horses will play against Hitachi Sunrockers (#6) and are hoping to win this game.
