Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (5-11) was defeated on the road by third ranked Niigata Albirex (13-5) 93-77 on Sunday. The game without a history. Niigata Albirex led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Niigata Albirex outrebounded Tokyo Cinq R. 40-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and center Patrick Sullivan (206-88, college: SE Louisiana) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman Ricky Woods (194-84, college: SE Louisiana) with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Edward Morris (205-84, college: Pittsburg St.) scored 26 points. Niigata Albirex have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-5 record having just -5 point less than leader Akita NH. Loser Tokyo Cinq R. keeps the ninth place with 11 games lost. Niigata Albirex will face Shinshu BW (#4) in Nagano in the next round. Tokyo Cinq R. will play on the road against Gunma (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
