Regular Season Round 18: Iwate Big Bulls - Shinshu BW 71-73

The most shocking disappointment of round 18 in the BJ League was only two-point a home defeat of 4th ranked Iwate Big Bulls (8-6) to fifth ranked Shinshu BW (9-5) 73-71 in the game for the fourth place. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 19-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St.) had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Patrick Sanders (198-85, college: Cal-Irvine) chipped in 17 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American-Panamanian forward Leonardo Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Tsubasa Yonamine (173-83) scored 13 points. Iwate Big Bulls' coach Dai Oketani rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Shinshu BW moved-up to fourth place. Iwate Big Bulls at the other side dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Shinshu BW are looking forward to face higher ranked Niigata Albirex (#3) at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Iwate Big Bulls will play against Saitama Broncos and are hoping to win this game.
