Regular Season Round 8: Slask Wroclaw - Asseco 86-78

Date: December 1, 2013
The game in Wroclaw was also quite interesting. 7th ranked Asseco (3-5) played at the court of eighth ranked Slask Wroclaw (4-4). Slask Wroclaw managed to secure a 8-point victory 86-78 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-78. Slask Wroclaw made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. The winners were led by American point guard Danny Gibson (177-84, college: S.Indiana) who scored that evening 19 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and Serbian forward Nikola Malesevic (201-89, college: Rhode Island) supported him with 13 points. Slask Wroclaw's coach Tomasz Jankowski used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 22 points by Russian Fedor Dmitriev (204-84, agency: Alti Sport) did not help to save the game for Asseco. American point guard A.J. Walton (184-90, college: Baylor) added 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 steals for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Slask Wroclaw moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Rosa Radom. Loser Asseco dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. They share it with AZS Koszalin. Slask Wroclaw will meet at home league's second-placed PGE Turow in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Asseco will play against the league's leader Stelmet ZG (#1) in Zielona Gora and hope to secure a win.
