Regular Season Round 9: Bnei Hertzeliyya - Hapoel Holon 81-61

Date: December 1, 2013
There was a small surprise in Hod Hasharon where ninth ranked Bnei Hasharon (4-5) smashed 6th ranked Hapoel Holon (4-4) 81-61 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Bnei Hasharon. Hapoel Holon was better in fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bnei Hasharon made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Bnei Hasharon especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Bnei Hasharon made 7 blocks. Nigerian forward Ndudi Ebi (206-84, agency: Higher Vision Sports) stepped up and scored 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and American swingman Dwayne Broyles (196-82, college: JMU, agency: Higher Vision Sports) chipped in 16 points. Four Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Laurence Bowers (203, college: Missouri) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import power forward Alex Oriakhi (206-90, college: Connecticut) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bnei Hasharon moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Galil Gilboa and Netanya. Loser Hapoel Holon keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Bnei Hasharon will face higher ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (#4) in Nes Ziyona in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
