Regular Season Round 18: Sendai 89ers - Saitama Bron. 91-72

Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Sendai 89ers (7-9) smashed at home 10th ranked Saitama Broncos (2-14) 91-72 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Sendai 89ers. Saitama Broncos was better in fourth quarter 31-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sendai 89ers looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Guard Wendell Wendell (198-84, college: UNLV) had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Travele Travel (203-88, college: Texas Southern) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Five Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman John Humphrey (188-80, college: Middle Tenn.St.) with 27 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Mark Dawson (206-83, college: Long Beach St.) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sendai 89ers have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Osaka Evessa and Yokohama BC. Saitama Broncos lost eleventh consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 14 games lost. Sendai 89ers will face higher ranked Aomori Watts (#6) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Saitama Broncos will play against Iwate Big Bulls (#5) and hope to win that game.
