No shocking result in a game when third ranked Bulleen Boomers (8-3) beat 5th ranked Adelaide Lightning (5-7) in Melbourne 85-71. It looked good early as Adelaide Lightning took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Bulleen Boomers had a 20-11 second period charge getting the lead and Adelaide Lightning was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-85. Bulleen Boomers made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Tess Madgen (180-90) who scored 25 points and 5 assists. American forward Chelsea Poppens (188-91, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. Four Bulleen Boomers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was international center Laura Hodges (191-83) who recorded 19 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Jess Foley (182-83, college: Duke) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Adelaide Lightning's coach rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bulleen Boomers moved-up to second place, which they share with Dandenong R.
