Regular Season Round 9: Bulleen B. - Adelaide 85-71

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Bulleen Boomers (8-3) beat 5th ranked Adelaide Lightning (5-7) in Melbourne 85-71. It looked good early as Adelaide Lightning took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Bulleen Boomers had a 20-11 second period charge getting the lead and Adelaide Lightning was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-85. Bulleen Boomers made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Tess Madgen (180-90) who scored 25 points and 5 assists. American forward Chelsea Poppens (188-91, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. Four Bulleen Boomers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was international center Laura Hodges (191-83) who recorded 19 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Jess Foley (182-83, college: Duke) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Adelaide Lightning's coach rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bulleen Boomers moved-up to second place, which they share with Dandenong R. Adelaide Lightning lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. Bulleen Boomers' next round opponent will be league's leader Bendigo Spirit at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Adelaide Lightning will play against Sydney Uni Flames (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
