Regular Season Round 8: JX Sunflowers - Toyota B SR 86-65

Undefeated leader JX Sunflowers delivered the eighth consecutive victory. This time they crushed 9th ranked Toyota B SR (2-6) 86-65 in Kashiwa. The game was mostly controlled by JX Sunflowers. Toyota B SR was better in second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Toyota B SR to just 6 points in first quarter. JX Sunflowers dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Toyota B SR's 20 and made 23-of-27 charity shots (85.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Toyota B SR 50-26 including a 36-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. JX Sunflowers brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Toyota B SR was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international forward Yuka Mamiya (185-90) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. International forward Yuki Miyazawa (181-93, college: Queens, NY) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. Guard Yoshie Watanabe (162-86) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and power forward Sumi Tsukamoto (178-90) added 13 points and 5 assists in the effort for Toyota B SR. Four Toyota B SR players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. JX Sunflowers (8-0) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with a perfect record of 8 victories in a row. Toyota B SR lost fourth consecutive game.
