Regular Season Round 9: Netanya - Hapoel T-A 73-92

Date: December 2, 2013
There was a minor upset when 7th ranked GreenTops Netanya (4-5) was crushed at home by seventh ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (4-4) 92-73 on Monday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 14-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 92-73. Hapoel Tel-Aviv made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. GreenTops Netanya was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Carlon Brown (195-89, college: Colorado) stepped up and scored 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and the former international Raviv Limonad (191-84) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Hapoel Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American swingman Julien Mills (193-85, college: Ball St.) with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import guard Dawan Robinson (188-82, college: Rhode Island) scored 20 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hapoel Tel-Aviv moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Hapoel Holon. Loser GreenTops Netanya dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will face league's second-placed Maccabi Haifa at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. GreenTops Netanya will play against the league's leader Hapoel Jerusalem (#1) and hope to win that game.
