We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Cergy where 16th ranked Saint-Brieuc (3-9) was defeated by seventeenth ranked Pontoise (3-9) 87-79. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-14. But Saint-Brieuc won third quarter 24-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for swingman Parfait Njiba (199-89) who led his team to a victory with 29 points. Naturalized Cameroonian guard Ralph Temgoua (196, college: St.Lawrence) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward Jahmar Thorpe (198-84, college: Houston) replied with 26 points and point guard Antoine Liorel (180-89) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Saint-Brieuc. Saint-Brieuc's coach Denis Mettay rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Pontoise moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with defeated Saint-Brieuc. Pontoise's next round opponent will be higher ranked La Rochelle (#6) on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
