Regular Season Round 5: Shandong - Shenyang 99-86

Shandong's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after four consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Shenyang Golden Lions (0-5) 99-86. The game was mostly controlled by Shandong. Shenyang Golden Lions was better in fourth quarter 27-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shandong dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Shenyang Golden Lions' 36. Shandong forced 19 Shenyang Golden Lions turnovers. Strangely Shenyang Golden Lions outrebounded Shandong 41-29 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Shenyang Golden Lions were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Siyu Wang (175-95) stepped up and scored 20 points and 8 assists for the winners and forward Wei Cao (182-95) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. International forward Meng Li (185-95) responded with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 steals and center Xuejiao Wu (189-89) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Five Shandong and four Shenyang Golden Lions players scored in double figures. Shandong (1-4) left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with Bayi. It was Shenyang Golden Lions' fourth loss in a row. They still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Yunnan. Shandong will play against league's second-placed Shanxi Rui Flame in TaiyuanC in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Shenyang Golden Lions will play at home against Jiangsu Phoenix (#6) and hope to get finally their first victory.
