Regular Season Round 17: Handlova - Rieker KN 86-81

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Rieker KN (9-6) against sixth ranked Handlova (7-8) on Wednesday night. Visiting Rieker KN was defeated by Handlova in a tough game in Handlova 81-86. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Rieker KN won third quarter 25-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Handlova made 20-of-21 charity shots (95.2 percent) during the game. The former international Tomas Mrvis (200-91) stepped up and scored 17 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winners and Serbian swingman Nemanja Gudzic (195-90) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. Five Handlova players scored in double figures. Canadian guard Juevol Myles (185-89, college: S.Dakota) responded with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and American forward Kenny Hall (206-90, college: Tennessee, agency: Three Eye Sports) scored 18 points. Rieker KN's coach Frantisek Ron rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Handlova maintains sixth place with 7-8 record. Rieker KN at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. They share it with Prievidza. Handlova will play against higher ranked Prievidza (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rieker KN will play against Nova Ves and hopes to get back on the winning track.
