Regular Season Round 9: KFI - Snaefell 89-80

There was a minor upset in Isafjordur where 8th ranked Snaefell (4-5) was defeated by tenth ranked KFI (2-7) 89-80. The hosts were ahead by 4 points but lost the second period ending it with a 3-point deficit before their 22-10 run, which allowed them to win the game. KFI made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. KFI outrebounded Snaefell 42-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. Forward Agust Angantysson (198-85) nailed a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Jason Smith (183-83, college: Al.-Huntsville) accounted for 26 points and 6 assists. American point guard Vance Cooksey (183-87, college: Pikeville) came up with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international forward Sigurdur Thorvaldsson (201-80) added 13 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Snaefell in the defeat. Four Snaefell players scored in double figures. KFI moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Skallagrimur and IR. Snaefell at the other side keeps the eighth position with five games lost. KFI will play against higher ranked Stjarnan (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Snaefell will play against Njardvik and hopes to get back on the winning track.
