Very important is a road loss of second ranked Adelaide 36ers (8-4) against sixth ranked Townsville Crocodiles (4-5) on Friday night. Visiting Adelaide 36ers were defeated by Townsville Crocodiles in a tough game in Wulguru 94-98. Adelaide 36ers were ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 30-23 charge of Townsville Crocodiles, which allowed them to win the game. They made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Strangely Adelaide 36ers outrebounded Townsville Crocodiles 43-29 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for the former international guard Steven Markovic (190-85) who led his team to a victory with 31 points and 4 assists. American swingman Josh Pace (195-83, college: Syracuse) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Townsville Crocodiles' coach Shawn Dennis allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American point guard Gary Ervin (183-83, college: Arkansas) answered with 22 points and international power forward Anthony Petrie (203-83) added 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Adelaide 36ers. Five Townsville Crocodiles and four Adelaide 36ers players scored in double figures. Townsville Crocodiles moved-up to fifth place. Adelaide 36ers at the other side keep the second position with four games lost. Townsville Crocodiles' next round opponent will be higher ranked Melbourne Tigers (#4) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Adelaide 36ers will play against Cairns Taipans and hope to win that game.
