Undefeated Guandong Tigers (9-1) recorded its first loss in Dongguan on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Shanghai Sharks (8-2) 101-92. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Guandong Tigers. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The game without a history. Shanghai Sharks led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Guandong Tigers' 32 and made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. American Darnell Jackson (203-85, college: Kansas) fired 29 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners. The other American import guard Quincy Douby (190-84, college: Rutgers) chipped in 32 points and 5 rebounds. Four Shanghai Sharks players scored in double figures. International Jianlian Yi (212-87) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and American guard Khalif Wyatt (193-91, college: Temple) added 27 points respectively for lost side. Shanghai Sharks maintains second position with 8-2 record behind leader Guangdong ST, which they share with Beijing Ducks. Defending champion Guandong Tigers still keep top place with one game lost. Shanghai Sharks is looking forward to face Foshan (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Guandong Tigers will play against Xinjiang Flying Tige (#5) in Urumqi and are hoping to win this game.
