Regular Season Round 6: Zhejiang - Beijing 83-63

There was a change at the WCBA leadership position after last games. Round 6 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Beijing Great Wall (5-1). They were crushed by seventh ranked Zhejiang Far East (3-3) 83-63 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Beijing Great Wall. The game was mostly controlled by Zhejiang Far East. Beijing Great Wall managed to win fourth quarter 23-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zhejiang Far East dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Beijing Great Wall's 30. Zhejiang Far East had a 30-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Beijing Great Wall's players. American center Brittney Griner (203-90, college: Baylor) had a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 6 blocks (on 16-of-19 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and international Song Gao (188-92) chipped in 14 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Ting Shao (183-89) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and guard Chimei Fu (167-86) scored 16 points. Zhejiang Far East moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Jiangsu. Beijing Great Wall at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with Guangdong and Shanghai. They were replaced at the leadership position by Shanxi. Beijing Great Wall will play next round against Qujing Yunnan trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Zhejiang Far East will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Heilongjiang Chenneng in Harbin.
