There was no surprise when 6th ranked Shiga L-Stars (8-9) were defeated at home by second ranked Kyoto Hannar. (11-6) 78-72 on Saturday. Shiga L-Stars were trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 22-15 charge of Kyoto Hannar., which allowed them to win the game. They made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Kyoto Hannar. forced 19 Shiga L-Stars turnovers. Yu Okada (184-83) fired 21 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals for the winners. American center Joe Werner (201-84, college: Wisc.-La Crosse) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. Kyoto Hannar.'s coach Honoo Hamaguchi used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panamanian forward Dionisio Gomez Camargo (203-80, college: Arkansas) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Marshall Brown (199-85, college: Missouri) added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Four Kyoto Hannar. and five Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. Kyoto Hannar. maintains second place with 11-6 record having just 0 points less than leader Akita NH. Loser Shiga L-Stars keep the sixth position with nine games lost. Kyoto Hannar. will have a break next round. Shiga L-Stars will play again at home against the league's second-placed Kyoto Hannar.
