Regular Season Round 11: Sallen - Eskinstuna 69-49
Date: December 7, 2013
Bottom-ranked Eskinstuna (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 69-49 loss to second ranked Sallen (7-2) in Uppsala on Saturday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The game was mostly controlled by Sallen. Eskinstuna managed to win second period 13-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sallen dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Eskinstuna's 30. They outrebounded Eskinstuna 42-18 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American point guard Eureka Brooks (170-86, college: Florida) who scored 17 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Norwegian power forward Kristina Tattersdill (183-83) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Sallen's coach Bo Eriksson used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Natasha Vital (173-88, college: California) produced 19 points and the other American import swingman Carmen Reynolds (182-90, college: Michigan) added 11 points respectively for the guests. Sallen maintains second place with 7-2 record having just two points less than leader Norrkoping. Newly promoted Eskinstuna still closes the standings with ten games lost. Sallen are looking forward to face IK Eos (#7) in Lund in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Eskinstuna will have a break next round.
