Regular Season Round 8: Olimpi - Dinamo Tbilisi 60-104
Date: December 7, 2013
Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Dinamo Tbilisi (#1) and Olimpi (#7). Olimpi was smashed at home by 44 points 60-104 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Dinamo Tbilisi. Olimpi managed to win third quarter 28-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Olimpi to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Olimpi 55-31 including a 38-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Dinamo Tbilisi looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Olimpi's players. The best player for the winners was American forward Keyon Carter (206-88, college: ODU, agency: Two Points) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. Montenegrin center Stevan Milosevic (211-85, agency: Interperformances) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Five Dinamo Tbilisi players scored in double figures. Guard George Khaniashvili (194-89) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and guard Giorgi Gulisabedashvili (194-88, agency: Court Side) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Dinamo Tbilisi (7-0) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 7 victories in a row. Olimpi lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with six games lost. They share the position with Rustavi. Dinamo Tbilisi will meet Kutaisi (#4) on the road in the next round. Olimpi will play against Energy Invest in Rustavi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
