Very predictable result when fifth ranked Iwate Big Bulls (9-6) outscored on the road 10th ranked Saitama Broncos (2-15) 80-53 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Iwate Big Bulls. Saitama Broncos was better in second period 13-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Iwate Big Bulls dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Saitama Broncos' 30. American forward Lawrence Blackledge (206-86, college: Marquette) fired 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American-Panamanian forward Leonardo Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Blackledge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Iwate Big Bulls players scored in double figures. Iwate Big Bulls' coach Dai Oketani felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American power forward Mark Dawson (206-83, college: Long Beach St.) produced 16 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import swingman Michael Joiner (200-81, college: Florida St.) added 11 points respectively for lost side. Iwate Big Bulls maintains fifth place with 9-6 record. Saitama Broncos lost their twelfth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 15 games lost. Iwate Big Bulls will have a break next round. Saitama Broncos will play again against Iwate Big Bulls (#5) and hope to win that game.
