Very predictable result in Ciudad de Mexico where eighth ranked Huracanes (9-10) beat bottom-ranked Gansos (1-21) 89-82 on Saturday. Gansos trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 24-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 82-89 at the end of the game. The former international swingman Miguel Ayala (198-82, college: UTEP) scored 26 points to lead the charge for the winners and international point guard Omar Quintero (183-81, college: S.Nazarene) chipped in 14 points and 7 assists during the contest. Four Huracanes players scored in double figures. Huracanes' coach Eduard Torres used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American point guard Ryan McCoy (183-87, college: La-Lafayette) responded with 23 points and 5 assists and his fellow American import guard Harrison Smith (190, college: Texas Southern) scored 25 points. Huracanes maintains eighth position with 9-10 record. Loser Gansos stay dead last with 21 lost games. Huracanes will meet at home Lechugueros (#9) in the next round. Gansos will play against Abejas (#4) in Guanajuato and hope to win that game.
