Regular Season Round 18: Prievidza - Handlova 72-52

Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Prievidza (10-6) smashed at home 6th ranked Handlova (8-9) 72-52. The game without a history. Prievidza led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Handlova's 32. Prievidza forced 20 Handlova turnovers and outrebounded them 45-27 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. International guard Marek Jass (194-90) notched 15 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and Croatian power forward Drazen Klaric (204-80) supported him with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Even 16 points and 5 rebounds by the former international Tomas Mrvis (200-91) did not help to save the game for Handlova. Forward Filip Lehman (197-87) added 8 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Prievidza have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Rieker KN. Handlova at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Prievidza will play against bottom-ranked Nova Ves (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Handlova will play against the league's second-placed Nitra in Nitra and hopes to get back on the winning track.
