Regular Season Round 8: Armia - Kutaisi 70-68

Important game to mention about took place in Tbilisi. Third ranked Armia (6-1) saved a 2-point derby victory at home edging one of their biggest challengers Kutaisi (5-2) 70-68 in the fight for the second place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kutaisi. Kutaisi was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Armia made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. The winners were led by international center Giorgi Sharabidze (210-90) who scored that evening 17 points and 8 rebounds and forward Giorgi Jgerenaia (206-90, college: N.Georgia) supported him with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Armia's coach Kote Tugushi allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 24 points and 6 rebounds by naturalized Azerbaijani forward Davit Barbakadze (203-82) did not help to save the game for Kutaisi. International Akaki Dvalishvili (206-90) added 17 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Armia moved-up to second place. Kutaisi at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Batumi. Armia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Sokhumi.
