Regular Season Round 11: Nice - Charleville 51-63

Date: December 7, 2013
There was no surprise when 12th ranked Nice (2-9) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Charleville-Mezieres (6-5) 63-51 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Charleville-Mezieres. Nice was better in fourth quarter 15-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Nice to just 6 points in third quarter. Charleville-Mezieres made 23-of-25 free shots (92.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American forward Ambrosia Anderson (186-84, college: BYU, agency: Two Points) who led her team to a victory scoring 8 points and 10 rebounds. Lithuanian center Giedre Paugaite (192-90) helped adding 9 points and 9 rebounds. International point guard Kristen Sharp (175-81, college: Cincinnati) responded with 11 points and 6 assists and American forward Karisma Penn (188-91, college: Illinois) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Nice's coach Rachid Meziane rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Charleville-Mezieres maintains sixth place with 6-5 record. Nice lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom position with nine games lost. Charleville-Mezieres will face Angers (#13) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Nice will play against Arras and hope to win that game.
