Regular Season Round 9: Cadi La Seu - Gran Canaria 71-76 OT

Cadi ICG S. (#8) forced the game against Gran Canaria (#3) into an overtime, but lost by five points 71-76 on Saturday night. The game took place in Seu D'urgell. But the guests from Las Palmas were better at the end. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Cadi ICG S. won third quarter 11-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Cadi ICG S. used huge pressure winning it 24-16 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 10-15. Gran Canaria forced 20 Cadi ICG S. turnovers. Cadi ICG S. was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Naturalized Senegalese center Astou Ndour (198-94) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 18 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and American forward Chelsea Davis (188-90, college: Florida St.) chipped in 27 points and 13 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American swingman Aja Parham (183-84, college: Boston Coll.) with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Tania Perez (183-91, agency: Regeneracom Sports) scored 18 points. Four Cadi ICG S. players scored in double figures. Gran Canaria (7-2) moved-up to second place, which they share with Rivas Ecopolis. Cadi ICG S. at the other side dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. Gran Canaria will face league's leader Perfumerias Avenida in Salamanca in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cadi ICG S. will play on the road against Jopisa Burgos (#4) and hope to win that game.
