Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Pais Vasco (4-5) was rolled over on the road by second ranked Rivas Ecopolis (7-2) 70-50 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Rivas Ecopolis. Pais Vasco was better in second period 11-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rivas Ecopolis forced 20 Pais Vasco turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Rivas Ecopolis especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. American Rachel Allison (185-87, college: Baylor) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and international center Laura Nicholls (189-89, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Four Rivas Ecopolis players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Senegalese power forward Oumoul Sarr (185-84) with 12 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Maria Gomez (170-82) scored 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rivas Ecopolis maintains second place with 7-2 record behind leader Perfumerias, which they share with Gran Canaria. Newly promoted Pais Vasco dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Rivas Ecopolis will face Ibaizabal (#11) in Galdakao in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pais Vasco will play at home against Conquero (#10) and hope to win that game.
