Regular Season Round 9: JX Sunflowers - Toyota A. 76-60

An interesting game for JX Sunflowers (9-0) which hosted in Kashiwa 3rd placed Toyota A. (7-2). Leader JX Sunflowers had an easy win 76-60. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Toyota A.. The game was mostly controlled by JX Sunflowers. Toyota A. managed to win third quarter 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. JX Sunflowers dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Toyota A.'s 38. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when JX Sunflowers made 9 blocks. It was a good game for the former international forward Yuka Mamiya (185-90) who led her team to a victory with 24 points and 7 rebounds. International forward Yuki Miyazawa (181-93, college: Queens, NY) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five JX Sunflowers players scored in double figures. International guard Emi Kudeken (165-84) answered with 15 points and 4 assists and the former international guard Maya Kawahara (167-87) added 12 points in the effort for Toyota A.Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. JX Sunflowers have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 9-0 record. Toyota A. at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. They share it with Mitsubishi K. and Chanson V-M. JX Sunflowers are looking forward to face Aishin Wings (#7) in Anjo in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Toyota A.'s supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nagoya Mitsubishi K..
