Liaoning Hengye trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 18-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 68-75 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Liaoning Hengye 30-19 including a 24-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. American center Sylvia Fowles (198-85, college: LSU) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international center Meiling Zeng (191-88) chipped in 20 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was American power forward Jayne Appel (193-88, college: Stanford) with 24 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and international forward Feng Cheng (186-90) scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Shanghai Octopus moved-up to second place, which they share with Beijing and Guangdong. Loser Liaoning Hengye keeps the eighth position with four games lost. Shanghai Octopus will face Shenyang Golden Lions (#11) in Dandong in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Liaoning Hengye will play at home against Bayi Kylin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
