Regular Season Round 19: Toyama Grouses - Akita NH 77-87

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Toyama. First ranked Akita Happinets faced their biggest opponent Toyama Grouses. Guests from Akita (17-2) defeated host Toyama Grouses (13-4) 87-77. The game was mostly controlled by Akita Happinets. Toyama Grouses was better in third quarter 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American players dominated the game. It was an exceptional evening for forward Ruben Boykin (201-85, college: N.Arizona) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds. Swingman Richard Roby (198-85) accounted for 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific) added 9 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Toyama Grouses in the defeat. Five Akita Happinets and four Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. Akita Happinets have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 17-2 record. Toyama Grouses at the other side keep the second position with four games lost. Akita Happinets will have a break next round. Toyama Grouses will play again at home against the league's leader Akita Happinets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
