Regular Season Round 10: Hapoel T-A - Maccabi Haifa 84-75

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Maccabi Haifa (6-4) against seventh ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (5-4) on Sunday night. Visiting Maccabi Haifa was defeated by Hapoel Tel-Aviv in a tough game in Tel-Aviv 75-84. The hosts were already 14 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 21-16 Maccabi Haifa's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 84-75 at the end of the game. Hapoel Tel-Aviv made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Justin Harper (208-89, college: Richmond) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 5 rebounds. The other American import guard Carlon Brown (195-89, college: Colorado) contributed with 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American-Venezuelan Donta Smith (200-83, college: SE Illinois JC) replied with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and American forward Brian Randle (203-85) added 21 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Maccabi Haifa. Maccabi Haifa's coach Danny Franco rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hapoel Tel-Aviv moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hapoel Holon. Defending champion Maccabi Haifa dropped to the third position with four games lost. They share it with Maccabi T-A. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play against bottom-ranked Maccabi Ashdod (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maccabi Haifa will play against the league's second-placed Hapoel Jerusalem (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
