Very expected game when 16th ranked VL Pesaro (1-8) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Lottomatica Roma (6-3) 82-77 on Sunday. VL Pesaro was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Lottomatica Roma made 20-of-20 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Jimmy Baron (191-86, college: Rhode Island) stepped up and scored 26 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and forward Bobby Jones (201-84, college: Washington) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was power forward O.D. Anosike (203-91, college: Siena) with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 17 rebounds and guard Elston Turner (196-90, college: Texas A&M) scored 24 points. The victory was the third consecutive win for Lottomatica Roma. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Cantu and Granarolo BO. VL Pesaro lost their eighth game in a row. Loser VL Pesaro stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Lottomatica Roma will face higher ranked Montepaschi Siena (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. VL Pesaro will play against Armani Milano (#7) and hope to win that game.
