There was a minor upset when second-best Muggia (5-3) was outleveled on the road by fifth ranked San Salvatore (4-4) 74-51 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by San Salvatore. Muggia was better in second period 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Muggia to just 6 points in fourth quarter. San Salvatore made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 25 Muggia turnovers. It was a good game for swingman Alessandra Visconti (187-87) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Guard Greta Brunelli (176-90) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Alice Romagnoli (190-84) answered with 8 points and 14 rebounds and guard Annalisa Borroni (183-83) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Muggia. San Salvatore maintains fifth place in North-East with 4-4 record. Loser Muggia dropped to the third position with three games lost. San Salvatore will face Alghero (#7) on the road in the next round. Muggia will play against the league's second-placed Triestina (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
