There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Lighthouse TR (6-5) was smashed by ninth ranked Tezenis VE (6-5) in Verona 90-68 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Tezenis VE. Lighthouse TR was better in third quarter 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Tezenis VE outrebounded Lighthouse TR 46-31 including 34 on the defensive glass. American point guard Jerry Smith (188-87, college: Louisville) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 5 assists. Naturalized American Craig Callahan (204-81, college: NC-Wilmington) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Five Tezenis VE players scored in double figures. American point guard Robert Lowery (188-87, college: Dayton) answered with 21 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import point guard Kelvin Parker (184-82, college: NW Missouri St.) added 16 points and 7 assists in the effort for Lighthouse TR. The victory was the third consecutive win for Tezenis VE. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Lighthouse TR and Prima Veroli. Tezenis VE will face higher ranked Sigma Barcellona (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
