Very predictable result when tenth ranked Matera (6-5) outscored on the road bottom-ranked Bari (1-10) 113-88 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Matera. Bari was better in fourth quarter 26-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Bari's 32 and made 29-of-36 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Bari 44-26 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Matera looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Bari was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Kyle Austin (203-88, college: Cal-Riverside) who scored 27 points and 7 rebounds. The former international power forward Massimo Rezzano (203-82) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Matera players scored in double figures. Serbian guard Momcilo Latinovic (198-89, college: N.Mexico Highlands) produced 25 points and point guard Diego Monaldi (184-93, agency: Players Group) added 16 points and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Bari's coach Francesco Raho gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Matera moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Bari lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Matera will face higher ranked Chieti (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bari will play against Ravenna (#3) and hope to win that game.
