Regular Season Round 9: Anwil - Kotwica 89-63

Very expected game in Wloclawek where 10th ranked Kotwica (2-7) was crushed by fifth ranked Anwil (6-3) 89-63 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Anwil. Kotwica was better in second period 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Kotwica 36-23 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lithuanian Deividas Dulkys (196-88, college: Florida St.) stepped up and scored 25 points and 5 assists for the winners and swingman Michal Sokolowski (196-92) chipped in 10 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four Anwil players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Lukasz Wichniarz (198-82) with 12 points and American Karron Johnson (203-88, college: Midland CC) scored 12 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Anwil. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Energa Czarni. Kotwica lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with seven games lost. Anwil will face Energa Czarni (#5) in Slupsk in the next round. Kotwica will play at home against Stabill Jezioro (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
