Regular Season Round 13: HoNsU - TuRi 67-46

Very predictable result in Jyvaskyla where fourth ranked HoNsU (7-5) smashed 9th ranked TuRi (3-9) 67-46 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by HoNsU. TuRi managed to win second period 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding TuRi to just 7 points in fourth quarter. HoNsU forced 27 TuRi turnovers. The former international forward Minna Sten (190-87) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 21 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Titta-Riina Lepisto (184-90) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Four HoNsU players scored in double figures. American guard La'Keisha Sutton (175-90, college: S.Carolina) produced 16 points and 7 rebounds and center Elli Koskinen (193-96) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. TuRi's coach Jukka Valpola already knew that her team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for HoNsU. They maintain fourth place with 7-5 record. TuRi lost their eighth game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Kerava. HoNsU will meet at home league's leader Catz Lappeenranta in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. TuRi will have a break next round.
