Regular Season Round 10: Snaefell - Njardvik 90-77

Another exciting game was played in Stykkisholmur between eighth ranked Snaefell and higher ranked Njardvik where host Snaefell (5-5) won against Njardvik (6-4) 90-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Njardvik. The game was mostly controlled by Snaefell. Njardvik was better in second period 24-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Njardvik 43-28 including a 37-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Snaefell players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Vance Cooksey (183-87, college: Pikeville) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists. The former international forward Sigurdur Thorvaldsson (201-80) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Four Snaefell players scored in double figures. International point guard Elvar Fridriksson (180-94) replied with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and American swingman Nigel Moore (195-81, college: Alabama A&M) added 20 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Njardvik. Njardvik's coach Einar Johannson tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Snaefell maintains eighth position with 5-5 record. Njardvik at the other side dropped to the third place with four games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Snaefell will play against league's second-placed Keflavik on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Njardvik will play against Stjarnan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
